Daytona Boat Show – Jan 2014

Beginning January 2014, David Ray, Executive Director of the Marine Industry Association of Central Florida took the boat show out on it’s own. In years past, it was in conjunction with the Home and Living Show. Though it may be smaller than your more popular Boat shows in Florida, it is not to be discounted. The Daytona Boat Show has six of Central Florida’s best boat dealers representing 31+ manufacturers and various boats such as: Edgewater, Bayliner, Carolina Skiff, Tidewater, Hurricane, Chaparral, and Robalo. Other exhibitors were: Sea Tow Daytona/Ponce Inlet, Inlet Harbor Restaurant and Marina, Sea School, and Gerry’s Marina.  If you’re in Orlando this month be sure to stop by the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL January 31 – February 2, 2014. See you there!

TNL Newsletter – Why You Should Attend Boat Shows

by Robin G. Coles

Whether you’re buying, browsing or learning, a boat show is a great place to start. You get to see what’s new and keep current on the latest trends.

Of course, picturing yourself on one of the luxury yachts isn’t bad either. At some shows you actually get to climb aboard those luxury yachts. Or at least have your picture taken standing in front of them.

In an interview with Joe O’Neal, show director for the New England Boat Show in Boston, he talked about his main goal for the show. It is to create a marketplace for the dealers and the manufacturers to sell all their products. He also needs to create a marketplace for the consumer to come in and hopefully in one or two days, view everything they need to view to make a decision. That’s a tall order for the show director.

However, imagine how much time, effort, and more…

TNL Newsletter – Don’t Be A Lightning Rod!

According to Ron Holle (Holle Meterology & Photography), lightning is responsible for 24,000 deaths and 240,000 injuries per year worldwide. NOAA claims fishing and boating are the two largest sports resulting in those numbers.

As summer continues and temperatures soar the likelihood of thunderstorms and lightning strikes rises. It [summer] also means more boaters are on the open waters cruising around; enjoying life. The last thing you want to happen is being caught on your boat during one of these storms.

Here are top 5 things you can do to protect yourself while boating (power & sail) and fishing on open waters: http://archive.aweber.com/nautical-life/N14ZY/h/TNL_Newsletter_Don_t_Be_A.htm

TNL Newsletter – Keeping Boating Fun!

One of the best ways for families to enjoy boating is by keeping it fun. Fun means Family, Unity, New (and Exciting). Let me explain! At two boat shows I put up a flip chart and asked women the following question: If they could change one thing about boating with their guy, what would it be? The first time I did this was in Providence, RI at the boat show in January. We were halfway through []
